The international travelling photography exhibition WATER, created as a joint project of authors from the V4 countries and Ukraine, continued with another stop in Mykolaiv, Ukraine.
The exhibition opened on June 6, 2026 at Pier 8 as part of the DZHEM festival, a major charity festival in southern Ukraine. The project thus had the opportunity to reach a new audience directly in a country whose authors are also represented in the exhibition itself.
The exhibition presents 15 photographic series by authors from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Ukraine. Through different photographic approaches, the works reflect ecological challenges, the social consequences of water scarcity, its power and significance, as well as everyday stories of people and communities connected to this essential resource. The individual projects range from documentary reportage to poetic visual essays.

The WATER project was prepared by the SLOVAK PRESS PHOTO Foundation with the support of the International Visegrad Fund and the project partners:
MYPH, HERALD Europa, Institute of Creative Photography / ITF Opava and Białystok Interphoto.
Presenting the exhibition directly in Ukraine was an important part of the project’s international character and its aim to connect photographers from Central Europe and Ukraine through a shared environmental theme.
We would like to thank all partners and collaborators who made the exhibition in Mykolaiv possible and helped present it to the Ukrainian public.
