WATER Exhibition in Ukraine (from June 7, 2026)

On June 7, 2026, the international travelling photography exhibition WATER opened in Mykolaiv, Ukraine, as part of DZHEM FEST, one of the most important cultural and charity festivals in southern Ukraine.

Following successful presentations in Bratislava, Budapest and Opava, the project continues its journey with a stop in Ukraine, reaching a broad audience through its placement in public space and its connection to the festival programme.

The exhibition presents the work of photographers from the Visegrad countries and Ukraine:

Lenka Zavadilová,

Robert Kalamár,

Barbora Vávrová,

Petra Áčová,

Peter Drežík,

Marek Molnár,

Mateusz Sarello,

Bartolomej Krezolek,

Edward Molnár,

Márton Kállai,

Máté Ládjanszki,

Serhii Korovayny,

Yuliia Rokytska

and Yulia Shybirkina.

Through documentary photography and visual essays, the authors reflect on humanity’s relationship with water, climate change, environmental challenges, and the everyday lives of communities connected to this essential natural resource.

The WATER project was created through the cooperation of:

the Slovak Press Photo Foundation (Slovakia)

HERALD Europa (Hungary)

the Institute of Creative Photography – ITF Opava (Czech Republic)

Bialystok Interphoto (Poland)

and MYPH (Ukraine), with the support of the Visegrad Fund.

The participating authors were selected by an international jury and mentoring team consisting of Magdalena Herrera, Clément Saccomani and Jana Hojstričová.

We would like to thank our Ukrainian partner MYPH, the organisers of DZHEM FEST, and everyone involved in bringing the exhibition to Mykolaiv. We are delighted to see the WATER project continuing to connect photographers, partners and audiences across Central Europe and Ukraine.
