Information
The issue of water in the context of the most essential commodity for our lives, namely:
Drinking water, electricity generation from water, mineral and thermal and medicinal springs and their use, but also ecological problems and climate change, floods and extreme weather phenomena, the social dimension of water, cultural and historical uses of water, etc..
Through the eyes of documentary photographers and their visual narratives, or facts told through powerful images, they have the potential to promote conservation and sustainable water management, improve access to clean water and sanitation, promote water-efficient agriculture, address pollution and wastewater management, climate change, and draw attention to flood and drought issues.
The project also seeks to highlight that the Danube Plain is home to the largest sources of drinking water, which must be protected, and not only that, water is an ecological producer of electricity and also the water route across our Danube. In the same way, water will prove its strength to us after floods, for which we need to prepare, because climate change is here and we need new solutions and strategies so that we can prevent the devastating effects of floods, but also of drought, which has been the biggest in recent years, as well as the average temperature.
The project is of regional importance, the issue of water is relevant for each of the participating countries, as we share the same climate and environmental problems. The problem of climate change, which has an impact on drinking water resources and on extreme weather and flooding, is the same in all countries. We cannot consider it without taking into account its transboundary aspects. It is therefore entirely in keeping with the theme for this project to go beyond the borders of Slovakia and into the wider region.
