WORKSHOP WITH OLGA KRAVETS
The SLOVAK PRESS PHOTO Foundation kindly invites you to the workshop withOlga Kravets, documentary photographer and filmmakerfrom NOOR agency.
Olga Kravetsis a journalist by education. She started to take photographs as an alternative means of expression in Russia, where press freedom continues to be a struggle. Filmmaking came naturally after that, a love at first sight. She decided not to choose among the three mediums but combine them all for the sake of the story, be it a week-long reportage or a long-term project.
WORKSHOP
The 2-day workshop for max 10 photographers will be conducted by Olga Kravets.
Topic: working locally on documentary projects across different mediums: documentary photography and video.
People who will be applying, need to either have a project in progress that they need to take to the next level, or a strong idea they wish to develop within the countries where they are currently able to travel or preferably in Slovakia.
The workshop will be conducted in English.

WORKSHOP PROGRAMME
Day 1 – September 5, 2020
9:00 Meeting of the workshop participants at the SLOVAK PRESS PHOTO Foundation at Ventúrska 9 in Bratislava, registraiton
9:30 Welcome with coffee & tea
10:00 Introduction by Olga Kravets
Workshop programme presentation
12:30 - 13:30 Lunch break
Each participant will have up to 10 minutes to present his (her) idea.
Then Olga Kravets will give a interactive lecture on methodology of developing
projects like this and will open interactive discussion.
15:00 - 15:10 Coffee break
Work in brainstorming groups.
17:00 - 17:10 Coffee break
Final activities and discussion.
18:00 Closing
Day 2 – September 6, 2020
9:00 Welcome with coffee & tea
Individual feedback to everybody’s idea with input from the group
Work in groups with my supervision on next steps to do for each project: research,
financing, fieldwork, editing - depending on the need of each participant
12:30 - 13:30 Lunch break
Work in groups and interactive discussion
15:00 - 15:10 Coffee break
Work in groups and interactive discussion
17:00 - 17:10 Coffee break
Participants will present the updated version of their project
18:00 Closing
Lunch will be served in the form of a buffet.
WORKSHOP FEE
Thanks to financial support by the Slovak Arts Council The workshop fee is € 75.00.The participants are required to pay the fee by bank transfer until September 1, 2020, or in cash on 5. September, 2020 in the office of the SLOVAK PRESS PHOTO Foundation at Ventúrska 9, Bratislava.

The participants are required to bring their photographic portfolio:
- 2–3 photo series (min. 10 images per story);
- short introduction for each story (max. 100 words).

Free workshop for selected students
From among workshop applicants who are students and send a portfolio of their three works to info@slovak-press-photo.sk by September 1, 2020, the organiser will select participants who will participate at the workshop for free.
